Today’s journey marks the entry into Upper Mustang. After an early start, you follow the Kali Gandaki Gorge (the world's deepest) past Ghasa, Tukuche, and Jomsom. After crossing Kagbeni, you enter the restricted Upper Mustang zone (permits arranged by Luxury Holidays Nepal). The landscape becomes arid and desert-like, with colorful cliffs and Tibetan-influenced highland villages. You drive through narrow canyons, dry riverbeds, and rugged trails to reach Ghilling—a traditional village set among red cliffs and ancient chortens. The night is spent at a teahouse in Ghilling.

The scenic drive leads to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath (3,800m), featuring an eternal flame and 108 water spouts, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. The route then continues through the Kali Gandaki valley to Kagbeni—a medieval village rich in history, with narrow alleys and ancient gompas. From there, the drive descends further to the breezy town of Jomsom, finally reaching Marpha, a charming Thakali village known for apple orchards, whitewashed stone houses, and a tranquil atmosphere. Overnight is at a teahouse or lodge in Marpha.
