Bhaktapur, one of Nepal’s oldest cities, is located to the east of the Kathmandu Valley, approximately 14 kilometers from the capital. Known as the “City of Rice” or Bhadgaon, it is rich in history and Newari culture, showcasing remarkable architecture and craftsmanship.
Best Time to Visit: Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) offer ideal weather for sightseeing.
Founded in the 12th century by King Ananda Dev, Bhaktapur was a major trade and cultural center, especially flourishing during the Malla dynasty. It became the capital under King Jayasthiti Malla and has a rich legacy of art and architecture.
