The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a scenic and lesser-known trekking route in Nepal, often considered underrated. Spanning 14 days, it is one of the most popular restricted treks in the Manaslu region, following Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang. Solo trekkers are not permitted; groups must consist of at least two people and be led by a licensed trekking guide. Trekkers also require a special permit and an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Mount Manaslu, the world’s 8th tallest peak at 8,163 meters, is a key highlight of this trek.

Off-Beaten Restricted Trekking Trail in Nepal

The Manaslu Trekking Region is a stunning restricted trail in Nepal, featuring the captivating Tsum Valley and the remarkable Larkya La Pass at 5,106 meters, alongside rich local cultures. As it is a restricted area, trekkers must obtain specific permits:

  1. Manaslu Restricted Area Permit: Required to enter the Manaslu Conservation Area.
  2. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): Needed as the trek concludes in the Annapurna region, available in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
  3. Tsum Nubri Rural Municipality Entrance Fee: NPR 1,000 per person, obtainable at Jagat.

Given the region’s diverse villages, forests, and challenging terrain, having an experienced guide is crucial for safe navigation, especially since the area is prone to landslides and requires careful trip planning.

Daring & Enchanting Larkya La Pass (5106 m)

The Larkya La Pass, at 5,106 meters, is the most challenging and exhilarating high pass along the Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal. It offers breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu, Manaslu North, Samdo Peak, Naike Peak, Larke Peak, and Cheo Himal, and is located between Dharmasala and Bimtang, marking the highest elevation of the trek. Due to heavy snowfall in winter, crossing Larkya La can be difficult, often leading to trail blockages.

The 14-day trek offers a scenic journey to the base of the world’s 8th tallest mountain, Mt. 14 Days Manaslu Trekking Cost & Porter

Porters are essential for trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal, serving as the backbone of these journeys. They are strong individuals who can adapt to high altitudes and play a crucial role in completing treks, particularly in the Manaslu region. A porter can carry up to 25 kg, and the cost is approximately $20 per day. Hiring a porter is highly recommended, as it greatly facilitates the trekking experience and makes completing the journey much more straightforward.
